Hybrid app development with a clear platform fit

A web app in a mobile wrapper, a standalone progressive web app and a native app solve different problems. Based in Barcelona, I work remotely with teams in Europe and the US to assess the fit, build the agreed path and test device behavior. A wrapper alone does not guarantee store approval, and existing web code may need changes.

What you get

  • A technical comparison of standalone PWA, Ionic or Capacitor, and native options against your product needs.
  • A review of required device features, plugin suitability, offline behavior and data synchronization.
  • Implementation of the agreed web or hybrid app flow, including native integration where it is suitable.
  • Accessibility and device checks, plus code and setup handover in accounts you control.

How it works

  1. Assess the real requirements Review existing web code, target devices, offline journeys, native features and distribution goals before choosing an architecture.
  2. Test the uncertain parts Validate the riskiest plugin, synchronization or device interaction early, and use what we learn to refine scope.
  3. Build and prepare handover Implement the agreed approach, check it on target devices and document the code, environments and release responsibilities.

A good fit if

  • You have a web product and want to assess whether it can serve mobile users as a PWA or hybrid app.
  • Your product needs offline journeys or device features that must be checked before committing to an approach.
  • You want an honest comparison with Flutter or native development before choosing a delivery path.

Choose between a PWA and a native app shell

A standalone PWA may suit a product that is primarily used in the browser and whose install and offline needs fit the target devices. Ionic or Capacitor may suit web teams that also need selected native integrations. Plugin limits, WebView behavior and performance can change the answer, so test the requirements that carry the most risk.

  • List the device capabilities and background behavior the product truly needs.
  • Map offline actions, queued changes and how data syncs when connectivity returns.
  • Compare the result with Flutter or native development when platform behavior is central.

Validate device behavior before expanding scope

Start with a small proof of the uncertain flows, such as an essential plugin, offline task or synchronization path. Then agree the device coverage and store preparation work. Store approval depends on the complete app and review; using a wrapper alone is no guarantee.

  • Separate QA services and test data from production where the project setup requires it.
  • Keep source code, signing and service accounts under your organization's control.
  • Use the calculator to frame the scope, then confirm pricing and delivery responsibilities.

FAQ

Should we choose a PWA, Capacitor or Flutter?

A PWA can fit a browser-led product when its required offline and device behavior works for the target platforms. Capacitor can add native app integration around web code where suitable plugins exist. Flutter uses Dart and a different rendering and app architecture. We compare the actual requirements before recommending a path.

Can you wrap our existing website without rewriting it?

Sometimes parts of an existing web app can be reused, but mobile navigation, storage, offline behavior, performance or device integration may need changes. The code and requirements need a review before reuse can be scoped.

Will an app wrapper guarantee approval in the stores?

No. A wrapper by itself does not guarantee store approval. The app's functionality, implementation and submission materials all matter, and requirements should be checked for the intended stores and release.

How are costs and handover handled?

Scope depends on web reuse, native features, offline and sync behavior, device QA and release setup. Use the calculator to frame the work and see pricing options; code and access are handed over through accounts you own.
